Mustapha Ahmadu, the District Head of Mayo-Farang in Mayo-Belwa local government area of Adamawa State, who was abducted on Monday, has regained freedom.
It was gathered from sources on Wednesday, that the village head had returned to his household in good health.
As with most instances of kidnapping around the state, it could not be immediately established how much was paid as ransom for the Monarch’s release.
The Adamawa State Police Command which confirmed the district head’s release, only also confirmed that the man was Hale and hearty.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, reiterated that investigation to arrest the culprits was on top gear.
“Glory be to God, he has been rescued and the investigation is going on to find the kidnappers of the traditional rulers,” Nguroje said.
The village head was abducted on Monday hours after the new man posted to the state as Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Adamu, had addressed newsmen with a vow to bring kidnappers and other criminals down to their knees.
During the inaugural Press Briefing at the Police Headquarters in Yola, the CP mentioned visibility policing as one of the strategies he would adopt to curtail crime across the state.
