The burnt police station in Iseyin, Iseyin local government of Oyo State has been rebuilt by the community.
The block of six rooms would be used as temporary administrative offices until the main structure and living quarters would be completed, according to Iseyin Development Union (I.D.U).
The Union National President, Alhaji Bayo Raji told newsmen that work was ongoing in putting back the police station to its former state with additional modern touches.
Raji said apart from the usual features of a standard police formation, the body would want to add other components that would make the environment conducive for officers working there.
He however said the community would be expecting inputs from the State government, as Governor Seyi Makinde has pledged to make funds available for rebuilding police stations that were burnt or destroyed by hoodlums recently.
He appreciated all indigenes that have contributed towards rebuilding the police station and other public facilities in the community.
“We appreciate all that have contributed cash, materials and efforts towards rebuilding the police station and other public facilities in the community, the NSCDC, Immigration Service, Agro Rangers and Customs Service have resumed back to work in the town and we are glad for this.
“We are eagerly waiting for the inputs of the State government so as to embark on the main building and put other facilities in the police station back in place.”
It was gathered that about 50 motorcycles looted at the police station have been returned and taken to the State police command at Eleyele while all stolen guns have been returned.
