Investment: Experts converge to Ibadan for the Global Education Conference.

Today, all roads lead to Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, as experts from around the world and representatives from the Oyo State government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, come together for the International Education/Study Abroad Fair 2024. The event is part of Governor Makinde’s efforts to attract global opportunities and encourage investment in the state’s rapidly developing education sector.

During the one-day event, Governor Makinde will deliver a keynote address, and other notable speakers such as Professor David Norris, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Botswana; Professor Goh Khang Wen, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Global Engagement at INTI International University; and Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, the Executive Director of First Bank of Nigeria Ltd, among others, will also share their insights.

The International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria will host the Study Abroad Fair. The event will be centered around the theme “Accessing Education Beyond Borders; Embracing Global Opportunities.” The project’s host and Partnership Director, Lady Tolu Eledan, has signed a statement that emphasizes the summit’s aim to bring together renowned institutions, experts, decision-makers, and key influencers in the field of international education. They will discuss the challenges and opportunities in the education sector and empower aspiring students to make their education study plans. The Study Abroad Fair will be an excellent platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge.

Lady Eledan stated that the Study Abroad Fair and International Education Conference will bring together a group of universities, institutions, and consultants from around the world. This will provide valuable information on educational opportunities and create a gateway to a world of educational possibilities for students, researchers, and other stakeholders.

She emphasized that Governor Makinde is focused on promoting collaboration in the global education community and showcasing Oyo State’s academic excellence, which provides equitable quality education and equips all with the skills required to promote sustainable development.

The Governor is dedicated to global education transformation, which is why he allocated the largest share of the budget to the sector in 2024, according to UNESCO’s SDG goals.

“The governor plans to utilize the conference as a platform to establish global partnerships and collaborations aimed at revitalizing the education system, making the state an educational destination hub in Nigeria, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals,” she explained. She emphasized that education can benefit the vibrant youth population in the state, leading to economic growth and increased revenue generation.

“The International Education Conference will provide an opportunity for Governor Makinde to showcase the government’s efforts in developing the education sector in Oyo State,” she added.
