Contrary to online rumors regarding the cancellation of the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations, WASSCE, it was debunked by the West African Examination council whom rather confirmed the postponement not cancellation.
Further claim refuted by the Council was the refund of N22,500 to registered students as the examination fee is N13,950, which is not reasonable enough to refund higher amount than the council charged.
The Council’s Head of National Office, Mr. Patrick Areghan said that the Council has only postponed the 2020 WASSCE due to the coronavirus pandemic which has put normal life activities on hold.
Mr. Patrick Areghan, thereby reassured registered candidates, schools and concerned stakeholders that the Council will create new International Timetable to conduct the examinations after meeting with relevant stakeholders and normalcy has been restored. He then encouraged Candidates to ignore these misleading claims and study for their forthcoming examinations.
