In the early hours of Tuesday, Emergency responders averted a possible fire explosion with attendant danger as two fully loaded tankers with Kerosene and Diesel respectively, had a head-on collision at the Otedola Bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
It was reported that the unfortunate incident occurred at about 8 am towards Berger Bus Stop, when a mack tanker loaded with 50000 litres of Kerosene with registration number AGB-447XA and a second mack tanker also fully loaded with 45000 litres of Diesel with registration number KRD 467XZ spilt their contents on the road as a result of the collision, subsequently leading to traffic gridlock.
Motorists have since been implored to avoid the area and take alternative routes to their decisions, instead.
Confirming the incident, the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the situation was, promptly brought under control in collaboration with Lagos State Fire Servicemen, immediately a distress call was put through to them.
Following the investigation , it was revealed that the two tankers had a collision, resulting from reckless and high-speed driving. Hence, spillage of the diesel tanker’s content on the road.
However, no casualty was recorded.
