Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, claims that a video of the president urging Nigerians to be patient with his government is outdated.
The State House posted a new video on X.com on Wednesday, according to Online.
The video was shared to Tinubu and the Presidency’s X and Instagram accounts on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 3:29 and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
In the video, Tinubu begged Nigerians to be patient with his administration, promising them that the country is moving from darkness to light.
He acknowledged the ongoing suffering caused by the elimination of gasoline subsidies and the floating of the naira.
Tinubu highlighted that Nigerians’ suffering was exacerbated by what he termed as an “avoidable lag” between subsidy elimination and his beneficial intentions for the country.
However, in a post on Wednesday night on his official X Twitter, Onanuga said that the video provided by the Presidency is old and not the fresh one that has been extensively distributed.
Onanuga stated that Tinubu has not made any additional public statements since his previous broadcast on Sunday and that the footage was from the President’s broadcast in 2023.
He composed the following sentence: “Trending video of President Tinubu is an old video”A popular video of President Tinubu that appeared on Wednesday is not fresh footage. It’s a clip from his broadcast last year.
“President Tinubu has not made any other public statement since his last broadcast on Sunday.”
