Peter Obi, the nominee for the Labour Party, has accepted Doyin Okupe’s resignation as director general of his campaign organization.

Okupe reportedly resigned from his position on Tuesday, according to Ayekooto. After being found guilty of breaking the Money Laundering Act by an Abuja-based Federal High Court, Okupe resigned.

“Dear Peter, as you may recall, I told you yesterday about my struggles to obtain justice for myself and clear my name via the Nigerian legal system.

I have too much invested in your cause to let my personal struggles serve as a source of diversion.

Given the situation, I have made the decision to step down and request that you designate a new campaign director general who can complete the task without interruptions. God’s blessings on your family. In a letter to Obi on Tuesday, Okupe wrote.

The LP flagbearer responded to Okupe’s decision by praising Okupe’s support and tenacity, which helped the party and its candidates win popularity across the nation.

Dear Elder Brother Doyin, I received your letter expressing your willingness to step down in order to prevent any interference with the important job of trying to steer our country in a new direction, which you have supported from the beginning. I respect the choice that was made.

Without acknowledging your passion, dedication, and inexhaustible energy that you brought to bear, the tale of this historic initiative that has inspired millions of our countrymen, particularly our youth, cannot be fully told.

Obi wrote to Okupe on Wednesday, “It is my genuine hope that our legal system would provide you an opportunity to eventually clear your name.”
