Abiodun Ojerinde, the member for Irepo, Olorunsogo, and Oorelope federal district, has sponsored a training for cassava and yam farmers as part of his attempts to keep his campaign pledges to his voters.
The workshop, which took place yesterday at the Bayo Ojerinde memorial hall in Igboho, was organized by the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service in collaboration with Letrix Technology and Consulting and sought to improve the standard of tuber farming in his area.
While the Igboho center focused on yam farmers, the Igbeti town hall’s second center focused on cassava producers.
In his welcome message, Ojerinde, who was represented by Mr Adeyemi Aferounmu, told the farmers that they are constantly on his mind and that his boss is doing everything he can to put his constituency first in all matters.
He further mentioned that the politician, known as Omo Olore, had sponsored a bill in the green house to create a cassava processing company in Igbeti.
One of the highlights of the event was Doctor Yemi Popoola’s full training on modern cassava and yam planting methods, which was followed by a question and answer session.
The training will continue today, with more methods being taught to the farmers and certificates being given to the participants.
The APC chairman in Oorelope and Irepo local government areas, Hon. Mohammed Jisoro and Hon. Awoyale, as well as other party veterans and leaders in the constituency, were among those who attended.
