A medical Doctor, Chugbo Emeka is reported to be the first health worker to die of COVID-19 in Nigeria .

He was reportedly to have contracted the virus from a returnee patient , whom he tends to in a private hospital.

The doctor was said to have been brought into the isolation facility late on Monday after exhibiting severe symptoms of the coronavirus. He died at the isolation ward in LUTH (Lagos State Teaching Hospital) yesterday.

Doctor Emeka was an obstetrics and gynecology specialist and a one time Vice President of the National Association of Resident Doctors in LUTH, before going into private practice.
