The additional active COVID-19 case confirmed by Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa was reported to be a driver with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Sule made the disclosure during an expanded state security meeting in Lafia, on Tuesday.
The governor disclosed at the meeting that the affected person is a driver with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NSCDC), who got infected in the process of transporting test samples for the agency in Abuja.
The driver who resides in Ado in Karu Local Government Area of the state was declared positive on Tuesday morning and been moved to the isolation centre at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi for treatment.
The governor explained that all infected patients are currently receiving treatment at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia and the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi.
He disclosed that the state had taken delivery of 6,000 Personal Protective types of equipment (PPE), 50,000 imported face mask along with 50,000 locally produced face mask by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
He thereby urged citizens of the state to strictly adhere to all government’s directives and measures on COVID-19 in order to curb the tide of the virus.
With this development, there are currently 12 COVID-19 active cases in Nasarawa.
