The N-Power scheme beneficiaries under the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) have begged for the payment of their accumulated monthly stipend , to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq.
The beneficiaries bitterly lamented about their survival, while speaking to correspondents , especially during this COVID-19 period, hence appealed to the government to fulfil its promises and pay all beneficiaries.
Vivian Ekize, one of the programme beneficiaries ,Lagos , who said that they had not received stipends for three months, described that the situation has made life difficult for them and their family members.
In another beneficiary’s word, Samuel Bagudu, Jos : “We don’t know what resulted to the selective payment. We are hungry, most especially in this pandemic period; most of us have families to cater for. ”
From Gombe , Karimat Suleiman said, “the Minister of humanitarian affairs denied us our right for not paying our stipends for good three months, always promising to resolve the issue but up till now nothing is done. many of us are dying of hunger.”
The beneficiaries implored that in order to order to avoid protest,the minister should attend to their demands .
In other news, the scheme repeatedly informed beneficiaries via its official twitter handle that it is ‘working on resolving the issues of no-payment of stipends’.
