Pep Guardiola has been given assurances by his Manchester City bosses that they will have their Champions League ban overturned.

City will discover their fate on July 13, when the Court of Arbitration for Sport announces whether the club’s appeal against a two-year Euro ban and £25million fine handed down by UEFA has been successful.

City were rocked by the punishment after being found guilty of Financial Fair Play irregularities – but took their case to CAS and insist they are innocent.

Now Guardiola has spoke for the first time about the appeal – and the Catalan is confident that is team will be part of the European elite again next season.

Guardiola said: “With CAS, we are ready – and I have a lot of confidence and trust in people that we will be allowed in the Champions League next year.

“Of course we want to be there and on 13 July we will know the resolution.

“All the workers here, the players, the staff, the whole club can continue growing over the next few years.”

City will lose up to £200million in revenues if UEFA’s sentence is upheld.

Guardiola has insisted he will honour the final year of his contract regardless of the outcome.

But that stance was based on assurances from his employers that the case against the club is flawed before the verdict was handed down.

A successful appeal would also enable City to keep top stars like Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling happy.

City are currently second in the Premier League and would ordinarily been odds on to qualify for the Champions League.

If the ban does come into effect, it would give the fifth-placed team a route in Europe’s premium club competition – which could give rivals Manchester United a reprieve.
