As humans, we only observe things in their finished state and are unconcerned about the slow process of growth and change. This mindset has resulted in a number of misunderstandings about Hon. Shina Abiola Peller, the Federal Representative for the Iseyin, Kajola, Iwajowa, and Itesiwaju Federal Constituencies.
But the scion of the prominent family of the late veteran magician, Professor Moshood Abiola Peller, who was known even beyond the shores of Nigeria for his breakthrough in the field of magic during his lifetime, can be expected to deliver. Only a man with the foresight of Prof. Peller could have conceived a son who would strive to outshine his father and restore the name’s honor.
Shina Peller, who was born on May 14, 1976, showed exceptional foresight at a young age. He didn’t have a speciality because everything was enjoyable and challenging to him.
He instantly went into the economy sector after his tertiary study at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), where he graduated with distinction in Chemical Engineering. He grabbed the bull by the horns and quickly established himself as the undisputed king of the Peller dynasty. After all, perfection comes naturally to him and is honed by grace.
He has developed abilities that have enabled him to flourish in the oil and gas industry as a Chemical Engineering graduate. His education laid the groundwork for Aquila Oil and Gas’s quick success in the downstream petroleum industry over the last decade, as well as its present backward integration into the upstream oil and gas industry.
This is not to mention that the vibrant and skilled Peller also wears his engineering hat when directing Aquila Building Projects Limited’s complicated real estate projects and investments across Nigeria and internationally.
In order to establish a niche in the entertainment and hospitality industries, he founded Aquilla Records in 2014, as well as Quilox Restaurant, Bar, and Nightclub, Nigeria’s first purpose-built world-class nightclub. It is the first Nigerian club to take part in a club tour that spans continents. It’s also the first Nigerian club to host a nonstop 24-hour party, which turned into a 36-hour party. Quilox is also the first Nigerian nightclub to attend the World Nightlife Convention. Hon. Peller became known as the “King of Nightlife” in Nigeria as a result of his achievements.
Peller, who has never forgotten about the less fortunate, has given out several scholarships and participated in a variety of community projects throughout the years. Many of his people have been and continue to be supported on pilgrimages to Mecca and Jerusalem. His ongoing commitment in community development and philanthropy led him down a new route, politics.
He had served them in ways so significant that he received multiple commendations, such as the free eye care program, in which about 200 people received medication and reading glasses after being examined by opticians, and the construction of 16 boreholes in his constituency, despite not having a political appointment. He developed and gave a Science Laboratory and a Modern Library to Ansarudeen Grammar School in Iseyin, and he founded the Shina Ayo Empowerment Program (SAEP) to help his people overcome their poverty. In addition, he constructed and gave a modern dorm to NYSC in Oyo State.
Peller organized the Peller Unity Cup for the ten local governments in Oke-Ogun in 2017, and for the first time, four teams from Oke-Ogun played in the AETIO Cup, thanks to his charitable gestures.
In a similar effort to eradicate illiteracy, he arranged a quiz tournament for public secondary schools in his constituency’s four local governments, rewarding top students and teachers handsomely.
Peller heeded his people’s desperate cry for him to lead the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone in the fight for political emancipation, and in the 2019 general elections, he ran for the House of Representatives seat of Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency in Oyo State on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and won by a landslide.
He has sponsored several bills and motions as a member of the House of Representatives, and his notable performance in delivering proper democratic dividends and creating a proper channel of communication between him and his constituents has earned him multiple awards, including the Democracy Heroes Awards’ Most Promising House of Representatives Member, the Peace Builder Award.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, which wreaked havoc on the global economy, Hon. Peller distributed palliative materials and food to the less fortunate to help mitigate the pandemic’s effects. Similarly, he provided N10,000 each as COVID-19 support monies to hundreds of Nigerians who are his social media fans.
He is also personally responsible for financing the education of many disadvantaged youngsters in his district, including the children of brave warriors who died in the line of duty.
Peller is happily married to Ayobola Peller, a chartered accountant and auditor, and their union has been blessed with children, making him a man of the people who will remain a man of the people.
He is also too prominent to be overlooked in the cultural milieu, as seen by the numerous customary titles bestowed upon him. He is the Agbobaniyi of Iseyin Land and the Akinrogun of Epe Land, and HRH Oba Dr Lamidi Adeyemi, Alaafin Oyo has bestowed upon him the ancient title of Ayedero. What a fascinating beginning!
