Share

A Federal High Court sitting in favour of the government has temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government the N250million diverted by a contractor, from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Following an ex-parte application filed by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel Usman Buhari, Justice Rilwan Aikawa made the interim order.

Counsel Buhari narrated to the judge that the contractor seized the opportunity through a contract awarded by the Federal Government to illegally divert the sum from the NDDC.

He also prayed for an order directing the publication of the interim forfeiture in a national newspaper for anyone interested to show why a final order of forfeiture should not be made on the sum in the government’s favour ,in a span of 14 days.

Justice Aikawa, who granted all the reliefs, adjourned further proceedings till July 9,2020.
