This is the incredible moment a baby was pulled alive from the Pakistan plane crash impact area.
A local news reporter was broadcasting from the scene behind a police cordon when all of a sudden rescuers waved onlookers out of the way.
Suddenly, out of the smoke came an emergency aid worker carrying a baby, wriggling in his arms.
All 107 passengers onboard Flight PK8303 died after the jet crashed into a house shortly before landing at Karachi’s main airport.
Karachi’s mayor said all 107 passengers onboard Flight PK8303 died after the jet crashed into houses shortly before landing at Karachi’s main airport.
However, a number of families claimed they had been contacted in the aftermath by loved ones who were on the jet and were still alive.
The baby from a family in the community of Model Colony was buried under rubble caused by the impact of the crash.
The jet, which tracking website flightradar24.com identified as a 15-year-old Airbus A320, was flying from the eastern city of Lahore to Karachi in the south just as Pakistan was resuming domestic flights in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
“The last we heard from the pilot was that he has some technical problem,” PIA spokesman Abdullah H. Khan said.
“He was told from the final approach that both the runways were ready where he can land, but the pilot decided that he wanted to do go-round … It is a very tragic incident.”
A senior civil aviation official told Reuters it appeared the plane
was unable to open its wheels due to a technical fault prior to landing, but it was to early to determine the cause.
